Purpose and History
- Purpose
Jonghak Institute was established in March of 2011 in order to define the tradition, the history, the practice tradition, and the identity of Jogye Order which is representative of Korean Buddhism, as well as present the vision for sustainable development of Buddhism and for the spiritual culture of Korean Buddhism. Our main subjects of our study are as follows:the history, the culture, the thoughts and the practice methods of Buddhism, all of which are the basis of Korean traditional culture; and the tenets, the patriarchate, the policies, etc. of Jogye Order
